The mystical charms of Bali

Bali has everything it needs to be a truly enchanting destination. Its landscapes feature terraced rice fields, Hindu temples filled with the heady aromas of incense, lush green forests, majestic volcanos, and magnificent beaches with perfect conditions for swimming, surfing, and diving. There is also a wealth of local cultural heritage, and of course the kindness and gentle attitude of the people of Bali to round it all off. And don’t forget the mouth-watering cuisine on this Indonesian island, which can be enjoyed after relaxing in the spa. One thing is for sure: Bali certainly deserves its nickname, the “Island of the Gods.”

Quick tip – Bali is one of the smallest Indonesian islands, but also the most famous. However, if you are looking for peace and quiet off the beaten track, you can move further afield to Java, Sumatra, and Lombok, which are filled with superb beaches and untouched landscapes.

Nature at its purest in Costa Rica

Nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea in the heart of Central America, Costa Rica invites travelers to settle in, relax, and enjoy the moment. Combining luxuriant jungles and long beaches covered with yellow, white, or black sand, this country is the true embodiment of authenticity. An astounding 25% of its territory is protected and listed as a national park or nature reserve, and the biodiversity on offer is unsurprisingly spectacular. It’s no wonder the country’s motto is Pura vida, or “Pure life,” in a reflection of the local mindset!

Quick tip – Plan your trip to Costa Rica with the sea turtle egg-laying season. You will have the chance to watch a magical spectacle, and maybe even see the hatching of a leatherback sea turtle – one of the biggest in the world!

The legendary good humor of Polynesia

Let the sounds of these magical names run through your mind…Tahiti, Moorea, Bora Bora… Imagine turquoise lagoons, emerald-colored headlands, and tiare flower necklaces. You’re there! Get comfortable in the shade of a palm tree and enjoy the communicative smiles of the Polynesians. Take a trip in a kayak, go hiking in the midst of nature, or dive deep to meet a multitude of multicolored fish before digging into a delicious meal drizzled with lime juice or coconut milk. You won’t be surprised to learn that Bora Bora is nicknamed the “Pearl of the Pacific.”

Quick tip – Book tickets for a Polynesian show by the iconic band Heiva I Tahiti (http://tahiti-heiva.org/)

The wonders of the Indian Ocean, from Zanzibar to the Maldives

The Indian Ocean is brimming with little islands, each more beautiful than the next. We have selected three of the most enchanting ones. Off the coast of Africa, Zanzibar welcomes visitors with its coral reefs, magnificent lagoons, white sandy beaches, and an astonishing cultural diversity. Further to the east, travelers will find the Seychelles archipelago where an equally tropical setting offers a vast range of endemic plant and animal species such as giant turtles. Brid Island is home to more than 100 species of sea bird! Finally, the Maldives lie even further to the east but closer to Asia, boasting 26 natural atolls with transparent water and bungalows on stilts. Get ready for diving, relaxing, and time to think in this heavenly change of scenery!

Quick tip – Zanzibar is just a stone’s throw from Tanzania! A great way to combine your seaside vacation on the island with an unforgettable safari to discover the particularly well-preserved wildlife and breathtaking landscapes of Tanzania.

These destinations are inherently “tropical” as they are located around the equator between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. But feel free to create your own wish list of magical countries to visit, wherever they are!
