The Communications Team’s Top 5 Apps

applications

As you know, the Communication Team likes to share its tips and tricks with you, as seen in our articles on the tropical hotspots of Paris and ideas for weekends in the sun. This time, we have decided to reveal our top 5 favorite apps you just have to have on your smartphone!

Diane – Senior Digital Project Manager

Mapstr

There’s no doubt about it, Mapstr is the must-have app for travelling abroad and on a daily basis! The concept is simple: You pin your favorite spots, whether activities, monuments, restaurants, or viewpoints, wherever you are in the world! You can also add notes, comments, and organize your pins the way you want with customized tags. The advantage is that you can also follow your friends’ accounts and discover their favorite places so you can visit cities from their perspective. You don’t need a guide, Mapstr is your new go-to travel companion!

Guilaine – Communications Director

Citymapper

I discovered this app thanks to my guardian angel Zoé, (you know who you are!), and means I can leave my car at home and travel around Paris using different types of transportation. This was unthinkable for me just a short time ago!

I simply enter my starting address and my destination, and the app suggests different ways of getting there. These include the subway, Uber and other taxi services, bicycles, and electric scooters. I love it! That’s right, I’ve started riding around on a scooter, and the feeling of freedom is extraordinary.

Getting around is no longer a stress, as the app guides me from start to finish.

Download it as soon as you can if you haven’t already!

Podcast

Whether I’m on the subway going to work, or on the road at the start of a vacation, I like to vary my usual music playlists by listening to podcasts.

This new format is a cross between radio shows and audiobooks, and is great entertainment when travelling anywhere. As for the best app, I have found several! The Podcast app is directly available on iPhones, but you can also find others on Spotify, Deezer, and via radio stations.

If you like discovering the lives of others, I recommend Transfert, a podcast by Slate.

However, if you are a workaholic, then I suggest Le Gratin, created by Pauline Laigneau.

And if you enjoy exciting news items recounted with both passion and precision, then check out the Affaires Sensibles podcast developed by the France Inter radio station.

Simply sit back and immerse yourself in a whole host of stories, and you’ll be at your destination before you know it! 😉

Tricount

When you go on vacation with friends, it can be hard to work out who owes who, and exactly how much. It’s so easy to get lost in receipts and endless calculations. In a word, it’s boring, and things rarely work out fairly! This is why Tricount is the perfect app for keeping track of your finances and making sure everyone has a good time!

It’s really easy to use. All you need to do is create a Tricount account by entering the names of the people involved, then keep a record of how much each person spends in real time.

I use it every time I go on vacation, and it makes life so much easier!

TVShow Time

Calling all series buffs! You just have to have TVShow Time on your smartphone. This app is really easy to use, and is great for keeping up with your favorite series. It sends you alerts when the latest episode of your series is out, keeps track of where you are so you don’t get lost, and offers synopses with no spoilers guaranteed. You can also leave ratings and comments after watching each episode, and scroll through the hilarious memes posted by the rest of the community.

The app also clocks how much time you spend watching series, which can sometimes be a bit scary!
