Spring trends 2019

tendances printemps

Spring fashion trends are everywhere in stores and magazines, and so we are not going to repeat what you already know! Instead, we have decided to draw inspiration from this season to offer you some different ideas. Read on to discover our selection!

1/ Get your sneakers on

Sneakers have become must-have pieces both day and night, regardless of your outfit. Whether white, black, colorful, metallic, with sequins or ribbons, they are the perfect accessories and oh so comfortable.

Did you know?

Rubber was originally discovered in the 15th century, but the first soles made with this material didn’t appear until the 1860s following the invention of vulcanization. This process enabled the stabilization of rubber to ensure it resisted changes in temperature. The material was originally designed for athletes, and basketball players in particular, to provide both comfort and stability.

Put on your sneakers and sneak off to New York where you can watch an NBA basketball match at the legendary Madison Square Garden, accompanied by cheerleaders, hotdogs, and fanfares!

2/ Coral reefs

Pink is everywhere this spring and has reminded us of the 2019 Pantone “Living Coral” shade. These different tones can be splashed around in abundance with little touches or block colors. Perfect for conjuring up warmth and happiness as we emerge from winter.

Did you know?

The Pantone color chart is an absolutely indispensable tool for designers, who use it to classify colors based on their composition. Every year since 2000, Pantone has announced the Color of the Year voted in for a full 12 months. This year, the Living Coral color is described as “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge.”

This shade made us want to dive into the water and explore the seabed or the Great Barrier Reef, which is more than 1,600 miles long and comprised of 900 little islands!

3/ Fit for a “prints”

With animal motifs (snakeskin and leopard print are the most popular), all sorts of checks, and flower-strewn fabrics, prints are the watchword this season from shirts to pants and from bags to shoes!

Did you know?

Tartan and its interplaying, multicolored horizontal and vertical lines is a fabric originally from the Scottish Highlands and is an icon for the Celtic peoples. In Scotland, each type of tartan is associated with a different clan or national institution. There are hundreds in total, and they all have their own specific names!

Travel inspiration

Edinburgh, of course! This city is easy to get to from France, and can be visited over a (long) weekend. A change of scenery is guaranteed thanks to its volcanic hills, medieval streets, welcoming pubs, and unique landscapes.

4/ XXL

A desire for light clothes after our heavy winter sweaters has naturally inspired baggy, free-flowing fashion trends! Everything can be XXL, whether flared pants, long dresses, lightweight blouses, and even raffia shopping bags. And why not play around with asymmetrical styles and see-through fabrics?

Did you know?

We all have a soft spot for summer-inspired baskets and bags in raffia, straw, and wicker! Raffia is renowned for its solidity, and the difference with straw lies in where it is sourced, from the raphia farinifera palm tree found in Madagascar. Its vast leaves are dried in the sun before being cut into long, thin strips that are then put onto reels to be woven. Straw, on the other hand, comes from the stems of certain cereal crops.

Travel inspiration

Either you go straight for the holy grail and book a trip to Madagascar, one of the world’s biggest islands boasting a rich variety of incredible landscapes. Or alternatively you can choose somewhere closer to home, in which case you’ll be spoiled for choice with Morocco, Andalusia, Sicily, or even the Côte d’Azur!

We hope you’ve learned a little something with these 2019 spring fashion trends! And perhaps found some ideas for your next holiday. Sometimes all you need is a little inspiration to find yourself on a new adventure…
