Vacations are made for cheering you up! Fresh air, walks, new places, different landscapes, and little treats. Both relaxing and inspiring, vacations encourage us to revamp our interiors and prolong our chilled, stylish state of mind. Here are just a few simple design ideas you can try at home.
Reusing our summer finds for your interior design
We bet you don’t want to put away that beautiful throw rug you found at the market while on vacation. We advise you to use it to decorate your sofa or put it under an outdoor armchair where you can read or daydream.
Baskets have been a big part of our summer. Whether big or small, in all shapes and colors, they were go-to accessories for days on the beach and afternoon hikes. But don’t just forget about them until next summer. Instead, use them to store magazines, children’s toys, or even for laundry!
Who hasn’t come home from their holidays with shells found on the beach? While this is a great idea, what can we do with them after getting back to the city?
Step one: Clean the precious little shells in warm water to remove any smells.
Step two: Choose a pretty macramé or woven hanger to go with a glass container.
Step three: Line the bottom of the container with shells and top with a candle in the color of your choosing. And there you have it! An original, handmade hanging decoration to remind you of your summer!
Use a relaxing color code
We all feel so good in tastefully decorated summer residences featuring gentle shades such as clear gray, white, and beige. So why not bring this home as well? Indulge in a new quilt cover in these colors, or perhaps elegant cushions and cotton voile curtains. You can also explore weekend flea markets and find little objects and ornaments to revamp your home in unique, original ways.
Create a cozy outdoors
Our vacations may be over, but summer is still here for another few weeks! This is a great time to get the most out of those last days outdoors. If you have a balcony, a terrace, or a garden, decorate your exterior with fairy lights to conjure up that summer-evening atmosphere. Plants are also a good way to add a little well-being and exoticism to your outdoor space. From little potted cactuses to carefully pruned shrubs, use and abuse greenery to give you an extra energy boost. What better way to see in the new season?
